Pay Per Post Update

I'm excited about Pay per Post - I've made about $150 in a few days and PPP is projecting my first payment in 21 days!

Apparently, they pay daily - which doesn't hurt my feelings a bit!

Opportunity: Associated Content

I've been writing for Associated Content for a little over a year now. It's my second-best at home money maker - which is not to say that I've gotten rich off it!

Associated Content (AC) pays $3-$5 for most articles - some a little more, some a little less, and some not at all. They also pay you $1.50 per 1000 pageviews. In fact, many authors refuse the up-front payment because it slows down publication. Instead, they aggressively promote their articles and rack up huge amounts of money off the pageviews.

Last year I made right at $300 for my articles, including the up-front payment and the pageviews. I have to say that I could have made that amount every month, but I'm too lazy to work the system the way it's designed to be worked.

If I wrote an article every weekday - say 20 per month - I'd make between $70-$100 in up-front payments that month. If each of those articles got 1000 pageviews, that would be another $30. Even better, if two of those articles got 10,000 pageviews, the amount would be more like $300! And so on.

However, racking up PV's on Associated Content is hard work. You have to be "out there", and take each article you want to promote and add it to search engines and directories all over the internet. You also have to get people to link to your articles. It can be a very time-consuming process.

Writing is hard work too, which is why I haven't written an article every work day! The trick to writing articles that pay well on Associated Content is to either write something of great appeal - for example, anything on Brittney Spears tends to do well - or, to write something for a niche market. My articles on gluten-free baking and food allergies have generated the highest traffic of anything I've written on Associated Content.

So - while this opportunity won't bankroll my next vacation, it does keep my PayPal card with a few bucks on it. That few bucks keeps me in coffee whenever we go out!!

Opportunity: Pay Per Post

Pay per Post is a fabulous opportunity for people who'd like to make some extra cash at home. In fact, it is probably one of the easiest AND most lucrative ways to earn money online. See the end of this post for easy signup!

The premise of Pay per Post is simple: you sign up, review opportunities, and choose advertisers that are suitable for your blog. Then you blog about them and include a link to their site.

There are a few requirements. Your blog has to be 90 days old and have posts appearing on a fairly regular schedule. Some advertisers want you to have a particular Google pagerank in order to participate. Most require you to include certain things in a post, and can be rather particular about it.

That said, most posts need to be 100 words or less. (To give you some indication, this post reached 100 words in the middle of the "Your blog has to be 90 days old" sentence.) A few want 200 words, but many want just 50! In any case, each post takes just 5-10 minutes to create. You also MUST post a "regular", non-sponsored post both before and after any sponsored post. This requirement keeps your blog relevant and readable. Nobody wants to sign on and read nothing but commercials! For this same reason, you are limited to three posts per day. Most opportunities range from a $5 to a $12 payout.

There are also a few opportunities for video postings, which pay considerably more.

Payment on your posts is delayed, but for good reason. When you post, you need to tell PPP where the post is. They take a couple of days to investigate and make sure that you've followed the advertiser's instructions. If you didn't, or you didn't follow PPP's guidelines, your post will be rejected. However, the rejection letters are very nice; and PPP allows you to correct the error and re-submit the post. Once your post is approved, PPP waits 30 days and checks it again. Assuming the text of your post has not changed, they will release payment to you (via paypal). This prevents abuse of the system by writing posts, getting approval/payment, and then deleting it off your blog. Advertisers need some way of ensuring they're getting their money's worth!

I signed up for PPP on January 31st (5 days ago). As of this very minute, I've got $96.50 in pending posts. By the time I get my other 2 posts for today done, I'll have over $100 in five days. I'll have worked less than 3 hours to do it. That works out to over $33 an hour.

Since your posts are limited to three per day, there are limits to this system. However, at minimum you should be able to do 3 five dollar posts a day. Assuming you work at this five days a week (you can work seven if you like), you will bring in $75 a week, or an average of around $325 per month. That's a lot of groceries... or a weekend getaway... or money to save for Christmas.

Let me know what your experience has been with Pay per Post! If you have questions, feel free to comment.

Blog Purpose

Busy Home Biz is a blog dedicated to hard-working men and women who choose (or who must) stay at home rather than enter the "traditional" world of work.

For some, staying at home is God's calling. Others stay home due to health problems. Some stay home just because they want to! A few readers of this blog may not be stay-at-home folks yet, but they either want to be SAH's or they simply need extra income.

BHB will focus on work that one can do exclusively at your home or with little travel expected. I'll be posting information about opportunities, along with the results I've gotten from those opportunities. HOWEVER, just because I make money at something doesn't mean you automatically will. Some of these opps depend on hard work, and you won't see them pay off unless you can apply yourself. Some require a degree of skill - for example, in writing or site maintenance - and if you lack those skills, you will be unable to make money at that opportunity. And some require a degree of timing, or other factors. THEREFORE, I cannot guarantee that anyone will make any money off any opportunities I post about. I hope you will (that's why I'm going to all this effort!) - but I can't guarantee anything.

If you have questions about any opportunities, please comment the post and I'll reply as soon as I'm able to.
